About Tim Mountain

Tim Mountain, co-founder of Evenlode Films, is widely recognised in the community for his Projection Mapping Light Show on the Municipal Offices, a stunning tribute to the memory of WW1. However, Tim’s background and talents extend far beyond this. Trained by the BBC, Tim has managed significant projects at Maida Vale and Broadcasting House, working alongside A-list artists and developing a reputation for excellence in both technical and creative fields.

Tim Mountain

In addition to his work in film, Tim is also a prolific composer, having written music for ballets that blend his passion for storytelling with his musical prowess. This diversity of experience has shaped his unique artistic vision, which is evident in every project he directs, produces, and scores. Tim’s approach is deeply rooted in his philosophy: “I bring the arts into commercial films—not as a formula, but as an exploration of storytelling where every frame, every note, and every moment must resonate deeply with the audience.”

This dedication to authenticity and emotional resonance allows Tim to create films that not only captivate but also connect profoundly with viewers, leaving a lasting impression..

Rust

Supporting the Films: "The Solent" (Mon 16, 8 pm; Sat 21, 1 pm) and "In the Name of Fire" (Weds 18, 8 pm; Sun 21, 2 pm).

"Rust," an award-winning indie short Directed by Tim Mountain, will be featured at the festival, supporting "The Solent" and "In the Name of Fire.”

"Rust" is an award-winning exploration of time, memory, and loss set against the backdrop of a decaying industrial past. Winner of Best Cinematography, Best Indie Film and Best Original Score, this powerful and impressionistic film weaves the story of a 1920s iron ore miner and his son, moving fluidly between past, present, and future. The film's evocative use of colour and black-and-white cinematography creates a vivid tapestry of moments, emotions, and regrets.

Set in an autumnal landscape, we follow an ageing man as he revisits the rusted remnants of a once-thriving iron ore mine, his memories of youth and tragedy resurfacing with every step. A poignant father-son bond, forged in the punishing conditions of the mine, is shattered by a devastating accident, leaving the man to grapple with grief and the relentless passage of time. Now, as an old man, he returns to confront the ghosts of his past in a final act of remembrance and reckoning.

"Rust" is a compelling meditation on the decay of man and industry, artfully blending drama and visual storytelling to reflect on the irreversible toll of time and the enduring power of memory.

Featuring Kim Cypher (main) and Antonio Forcione

Supporting the Film: "Missing, Presumed" (Tues 17, 8 pm; Sat 20, 3 pm)

The music video "Where Time Goes," directed by Tim Mountain, will accompany "Missing, Presumed," providing a beautifully introspective pairing for the audience. Featuring saxophonist and vocalist Kim Cypher alongside guitarist Antonio Forcione, "Where Time Goes" is a reflective piece on grief, memory, and the fleeting nature of time.

Filmed on the rugged coast of Monknash Beach in South Wales, the video captures the emotional landscape of a year spent in mourning after the loss of a loved one. Tim’s direction ensures that every visual element is in tune with the music’s raw emotion, creating a powerful experience that resonates with themes of love, loss, and cherished memories. This music video’s introspective depth will resonate well with the audience of "Missing, Presumed," offering a poignant emotional prelude to the main feature.

Uniquely the Same

Supporting the Film: "In the Name of Fire" (Weds 18, 8 pm; Sun 21, 2 pm)

Shot at the quirky Smokey Joe's in Cheltenham, the video showcases a dynamic mix of music, dance, and spontaneity, mirroring the eclectic and unpredictable nature of its artists. Tim’s directorial approach highlights the theme of being unapologetically yourself—embracing your unique qualities and standing out from the crowd. Paired with "In the Name of Fire," this music video will provide a burst of creative energy, setting the tone for an engaging evening of film.
